Conference Friends

One thing about being a conference troll is I am able to meet up with so many amazing women entrepreneurs. Every conference I've been at, I've opened my heart and mind to learning. But, for me it's much more than that! I come to realize I LOVE the personal connection and when I get to meet up with friends it is definitely the cherry on the top! I've added below another list of amazing people whom you should follow and I'm proud to call my friends... Amber Housley: Inspired Retreat Kim Stoegbauer: The TomKat Studio Cathy Olson: Love Inspired Annette Stepanian: Legal BFF Heather Crabtree: The Savvy Community Jessica Bishop: … [Read more...]

The Welcoming District

Sometimes life is really hard! When you want to be at two places at the same exact time. Today is that day- my sweet friend over at The Welcoming District had her re-launch party today at Black Wall Hitch Alexandria in Virginia. I am honored to say Johnston Style collaborated with her on this amazing event! Alicia and I met at The Inspired Retreat a couple years ago and we both came back to Inspired last Fall. We did a lot of connecting and business chat, but it seemed to be exactly what we needed. Alicia is one of those amazingly talented people whom everything she touches turns to GOLD! She has an impeccable eye and can style like no other. … [Read more...]

Alt Summit Flashback

The last time I attended Alt Summit was a few years ago. In Salt Lake City. I had never been before- I loved everything about it! Salt Lake City is such a beautiful town. I stayed at The Grand American Hotel... I shopped and ate at the most amazing restaurants. The conference was the biggest conference I had ever been to! My first night, I was hosted by sponsors at local restaurants for our opening night dinner and we had amazing themed dinners at the hotel on other nights. The last night of the conference Alt threw mini parties where each room was decorated to the nines by vendors and sponsors. This was my favorite part! Of course it would … [Read more...]

Bridal Shower Brunch

We had the MOST busy weekend- While I was creating and decorating for the baseball auction, we also hosted a bridal shower all on the same day. Yep! You heard right... Ellie and Evan's babysitter is getting married next month. We are so excited for her- and her fiancé is adorable.  Ellie is one of the bridesmaids, so she and the others had a brunch to celebrate. Look at how adorable the yogurt bar turned out! This is such a FUN cute idea the add to the traditional brunch foods. … [Read more...]

Popcorn Forever

I am am over the moon exited to have partnered with Poplandia Popcorn, Portland's #1 popcorn company. I am on the decorationing committee for Clackamas High School's baseball team.  I knew when we decided to go with the Lights, Camera, Action theme for our annual auction that POPCORN would play a FUN part of the night. Poplandia was completely on board with my idea! We had gallons of flavored popcorn around the auction. Buttery Bust, Sea Salt Caramel and Sharp White Cheddar. It was a hit as guests snacked on this delicious treat. These were just a few of Poplandia's amazing flavors. If you don't live in Portland? No need to worry... … [Read more...]

Meet + Greet

Henry's is one of my very favorite places to eat in Portland, Oregon. Last night, was a Meet + Greet for anyone who was interested in attending The Together A Boss Lady Experience. I had such a FUN time- I love meeting new faces, especially local friends. I had some delicious appetizers and the best watermelon martini. YUMMY! We had a group chat and answered questions people had regarding the conference. If you are interested? There are a few tickets still available but are selling out FAST. I can't even believe I forgot to take photos- It was so dark, not sure the photos would have looked good anyways. I'm so … [Read more...]

Royal Icing

I had over 300 cookies to make for our High Schools baseball auction! I decided to make sugar cookies and do ROYAL ICING for the first time... I made stars and oscars for our Lights, Camera, Action theme. I used Sweet Topia's Royal Icing Recipe and I have to say... It was amazing! I can hardly believe it worked. For me the key was adding drops of water to get to the consistency I wanted for the perfect piping. I first piped the outside of the frosting then came back in and filled the inside. I also added edible glitter on the top to add a little sparkle to the design. So much FUN! I'm so happy to be done, but definitely would frost with Royal … [Read more...]

Snow Day

The SNOW has dumped in Portland! The kids have been out of school for 8 days straight... It has been wonderful having everyone home- we've baked cookies, drank hot chocolate and watched many of movies. The kids have been playing in the snow and relaxing when they are inside. The only thing missing was my Christmas decorations... I took them all down the first week of January. Portland doesn't often see snow like this. If we have snow, it typically melts the next day. This year, it stayed under 32 degrees for over a week. Jason and I also had a chance to play in the snow- Too much FUN! I hope everyone is staying … [Read more...]

Business Bestie

My Business Bestie is Kim from The Tomkat Studio. I started following Kim on Instagram and adored everything she produced. She is a talent that I admire and she has paved the path for many who aspire to be like her. I emailed Kim years ago asking if she speaks at conferences... I needed to meet her and know more about her story. She emailed me back and she just so happened to be speaking at a conference that Fall in Tennessee. I knew, I had to go- and I DID! From the day we met until today, Kim and I have remained friends. She is everything you see on Instagram and MORE! She is kind, loving and a bit shy. I'm sure I scare her with … [Read more...]
