My Parents have been married for 47 years… They have groomed a beautiful path for me and my Husband. Here are 7 ways in my eyes, my parents have maintained their Friendship in Marriage.
1) GREAT COMMUNICATION
I grew up in a very open home. There were very few secrets between any of the siblings or my parents and us kids. We ate dinner around the table every night- We had no choice it was my parents rule, we were always welcome to bring a guest, but we were to be there.
2) GREAT LISTENING
We were also a family of talkers- (ok, maybe just me) but with that came a great family of listeners! Mom and Dad listen to each other. We all can tell long stories, but we listen and ask questions and care. We learned this from our Parents.
3) LOYALTY
My parents are always on each other’s side. If someone is treating one of them poorly, the other one is always loyal to counsel and support them.
4) RELIABILITY
My parents are predictable. They can count on each other. What they say they will do for each other, they follow through and do.
5) MEMORY BUILDERS
They make memories together. They travel the world together and speak those memories for a lifetime. They Grandparent their adoring Grand-babies. Whom, I think they love more than us… 🙂
6) SHARED VALUES & FAITH
While their opinions on some things differ their shared values and faith unite them on the big decisions in life.
7) LOVE
My parents always have “love” in their hearts. They are kind souls. They have taught us to been kind to others. Be positive and always look for the best in people.
With these 7 important life values that my parents instilled in us… I wouldn’t be the person I am today! I thank them everyday for being the parents they are. Keep up the great work!
